Heron Lake Winter Glow
25 x 19
Pastel on Sabertooth pastel paper
Here is a time old question - When is a painting done? I usually have a sense of completeness, one of being at peace with a painting. This one stymies me. It sits and I feel frozen about continuing. I don't want to go too far for fear that it will appear overworked. I want it to stay fresh and maybe with a bit of an unfinished look to it.
What do you think? I really want to hear from you out there, don't be bashfull, say what's on your mind about it please. I welcome your comments and opinions.
Heisann!
ReplyDeleteI landed here on my inspiring journey. Think I stay for a while ;:OD)
Have a nice week!
Anita, to me it feels not quite finished but I'm not quite sure why. It seems like I'm led into the painting nicely by the trunks at the lower left but for some reason I feel carried out by the 2 dark diagonals to the top right corner. It's like I need something in that large restful area that stretches from top left to lower right to carry my eye around the painting. Does that make any sense at all?
ReplyDeleteto Vilt - I hope you enjoy your stay.
ReplyDeleteKathleen, I think I understand what your saying- that I need to think about the eye's journey more and I will do that.
Thank you.
A work of very beautiful and delicate gray, Anita, I like
