My First Painting on Canson Board

"Heron Pond Enchantment III"
20 x 16
Pastel on Canson Board

My first painting on the new Canson Board comes with a new process for me. I painted this piece not on my easel as usual but with it lying flat on a table so that I was looking down on it. I placed in on the easel when it was about 90% finished. The last 10% was done alternating between table and easel. Let me know what you think.

  2. I came back to look at this again and this time enlarged it. I'm glad to see you used the "right" side (rather than the soft/back side) and let the waffle texture show. Very nice.

  3. I like the painting very much especially the way the light is coming through. I experienced sometimes problems drawing or painting flat on the table as far as the perspective is concerned. This is not a big problem painting a landscape but doing portraits or cityscapes it might become so.

  4. Barbara, I didn't have a choice as it is on board and it came with the waffle side exposed but I agree with you,I would have chosen the waffle side if I had a choice.

  5. Oli, Thank you for your kind words. I understand the perspective problem but I was so into the painting that I took a chance putting it on the easel near the end. I had ony minor adjustments to make as it turned out.
